Artist’s Statement

Reported Lost is a series featuring uncited women from archival photographs on assembled prints using found library cards. Two systems built to catalog, the archive and cards are prone to erasure. They are worn tools of classification repurposed to hold what they once overlooked. As I create these pieces I wonder: who are these women, what are their stories? Stitching their faces back into circulation is a small act of care, atop the ruled lines of the cards—due dates showing through their bodies. Barton Springs in Zilker Park is from the Dallas Historical Society's Polly Smith Centennial Photographs Collection.
