Artist’s Statement

The use of the ubiquitous window envelope explores how window envelopes morph from USPS detritus to art materials and then to doors with windows. The “Seal Rock, Oregon Series” is based on the last visit I had with a dear friend who has since passed away. It captures a door/window to the past, bittersweet memories, and the sights and sounds of the Oregon coast and the Pacific Ocean. The inclusion of my own contemporary photographs creates a particularly personal expression in both the “Seal Rock, Oregon Series” and the “West Patio Sky View Series.”
