Artist’s Statement

I felt compelled to create this work to reconcile different versions of myself: the child who once played freely in the brook next to my house, and the adult, now a parent, looking back with a new kind of awareness. Rather than trying to relive the past, I wanted to capture that internal landscape of memory, vulnerability, and resilience through the physical labor of making.

It was born from a deep desire to understand what those early experiences gave me and how to hold onto that quiet strength while witnessing the world as it is. This work transcends traditional boundaries to engage with the concept that there is no time to apologize for becoming who you were meant to be—framing self-discovery as a vital pathway to social change.
