Artist’s Statement

These works are from How We Wait, a photographic series created during solitary, contemplative night walks through cities around the world. Moved by my own experiences of loss, I began photographing the nocturnal city as an emotional terrain shaped by memory, longing, uncertainty, and the possibility of connection. Illuminated windows, reflections, fleeting strangers, and objects left in place become possible companions in the dark. The series asks what darkness and uncertainty might reveal when we approach rather than retreat from them—and whether, in moments that appear empty, something meaningful may still be waiting for us.
