Artist’s Statement
Where much of my work investigates how encounters with nature awaken the senses and stimulate bodily awareness, this piece is inspired by how built environments can operate the same. It had been a long day of pregnant walking around Madrid, a wrong turn had us doubling back up a cobblestone hill. It was then I happened upon a yet unseen modernista facade - fatigue lifted to euphoria instantly. I felt compelled to reconstruct this encounter through forged silver that mimics the sinuous lines of wrought iron that adorned the building and highly saturated layers of translucent enamels to stimulate sensorial pleasure.
