Artist’s Statement

Rosary is a replica rosary based on the one I received at my great-grandmother’s funeral. The piece is part of a series of work in which I 3D scan and model heirloom objects, both precious and mundane, and reprint them in amber-colored filament. I do this to study, preserve, and archive each one. The amber translucency references the natural process of resin preservation and gives the object an ambrosial glow. Though this object has personal and cultural meaning to me, my hope is that the object sparks reflection on the heirlooms someone carries, both real and metaphysical.
