Artist’s Statement

An experimental short film with theatrical Korean Texan flair, The Traveler is an exploration of an artist’s inner world. The Traveler is visited by several muses who in turn compete, collude, and inspire the Traveler’s creative process. The muses: the Fool, the Bride, the Dragon, the Lion, and the Smoking Tiger all represent different facets of an artist’s mental struggle and delight in their practice. The Traveler is joined by a steadily increasing cohort of muses until they disappear as abruptly as they entered the Traveler’s mind, before beginning the process anew.

Each muse dons a mask handcrafted by Hahn, who also developed, choreographed, and directed this film.
