Artist’s Statement

Cher Musico (she/they) is a queer autistic Filipinx-American interdisciplinary artist exploring home through identity, domestic labor, and connection, working primarily in fiber arts and photography. In Biopsy, sheer peachy-pink fabric signifies the transparency and softness of the body while embroidery traces the puckered skin of a biopsied area, stitching an invisible narrative into visibility. Always Vicks and Oil of Olay transform 1980s packaging into tender felt relics of domestic remedy, recalling the medicine cabinets of our aunties and grandmothers, where care was administered by their hands. Fibers hold what hard materials cannot in vulnerability, repetition, and the tenderness of remembering.
